DISCUSSION OF COOPERATION PLAN FOR BANANA SEED PROCUREMENT BETWEEN THE FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE UNUD AND PERUSDA BALI
On April 12, 2022, in the Meeting Room of the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University, a discussion on the cooperation plan between the Faculty of Agriculture and Perusda (a regional company) was held in Bali. Perusda Bali was represented by Dr. Ing. Ida Bagus Kesawa Narayana as Chair of the Supervisory Board of Perusda Bali, meanwhile from the Faculty was represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Dr.Ir. I Nyoman Gede Ustriyana, M.S. along with local banana researchers from Bali FP Unud. The cooperation plan is related to the procurement of local Balinese banana seeds through tissue culture technology. Perusda Bali will facilitate the planting of local Balinese banana seedlings by providing land to be cultivated by banana farmers in Bali, while FP Unud as the center for science and technology development in Bali provides local Balinese banana seeds produced through tissue culture technology. The Bali Regional Company will use the banana seeds for planting this type of local Balinese banana on a large scale for commercial and conservation purposes. Perusda Bali will also invite farming communities to participate in planting local bananas, so that this local Balinese banana plant development activity will be a comprehensive activity involving many parties. On this occasion, the Dean of FP welcomed this collaboration, and the research team will try to realize this collaboration by producing healthy and quality local Balinese banana seedlings through tissue culture technology.
