The Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University (Fapet Unud) attended the Consolidation Meeting for the Acceleration of PMK Vaccination and LSD Preparedness, represented by Deputy Dean III for Student Affairs and Information Dr. I Nyoman Sumerta Miwada, S.Pt., MP. Located at Aston Denpasar Hotel & Convention Center Jl. Gatot Subroto Barat 283, for 2 days, 21-22 August 2023.
In the context of the continuation of the 2023 Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) control program, activities to eradicate FMD in Bali continue to be carried out including vaccination, biosecurity, animal traffic control, and Communication, Information, and Education (IEC). Even though Bali has been declared a province with zero reported cases of PMK, the PMK vaccination program for 2023 will continue. In addition, another animal disease that is currently rife in Indonesia is Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD). LSD causes skin sores, fever, loss of appetite, and decreased production, and can even cause death in cattle and buffalo. LSD is an infectious disease in animals that can result in high economic losses, so it is necessary to take preventive measures so that the Province of Bali is prevented from transmitting this disease. In an effort to improve the handling and eradication of FMD in the Province of Bali, it is necessary to increase the coverage of FMD vaccination through various efforts including cross-sectoral meetings to discuss measures to accelerate vaccination, including in the framework of preventing the risk of LSD entry and spread. From the results of the meeting Fapet Unud, FKH Unud as well as ISPI and PDHI were asked to be ready to support this activity by sending final year students and alumni to be spread throughout Bali. The vaccination target of 240,000 doses with a maximum work target of September 14, 2023, has been completed.
