Rheumatic Heart Disease Symposium at Udayana University and Yale University
Udayana University and Yale University Hold Rheumatic Heart Disease Symposium
The Heart and Blood Vessel Specialist Study Program, FK Unud together with Yale University held a Rheumatic Heart Disease Symposium and Research together with the title "Prevalence of RHD In Bali, Indonesia Research Study".
The symposium was held on Friday, September 16, 2022 at the 4th Floor Meeting Room, Integrated Heart Service Building, Prof. RSUP. dr. I.G.N.G Ngoerah.
The event began with remarks from the Coordinator of the Cardiology and Blood Vessel Specialist Study Program, FK Unud, dr. I Made Putra Swi Antara Sp.JP(K)., FIHA and continued with remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Dr. dr. Komang Januartha Putra Pinatih, M.Kes.
In his speech, Dr.Januartha conveyed the importance of this activity as an effort to realize one of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely Community Service.
Besides, this activity also aims to encourage students to be able to carry out more and more quality research activities in the future. On the other hand, this activity can also provide opportunities for people in remote areas to get access to RHD special heart screening services from an early age.
At this event, invited guests including staff and lecturers of the Heart and Blood Vessel Specialist Study Program, FK Unud, and residents of the heart and blood vessels of FK Unud were also present.
The Heart and Blood Vessel Specialist Study Program of the Faculty of Medicine, Unud together with Yale University also carried out research activities related to the prevalence of RHD in Bali. A similar activity was carried out in 2017 which was a pilot study. Furthermore, this year's activity is a follow-up activity in the form of a real study which is carried out simultaneously and gradually. The activity will be held from September to October 2022.
The activities carried out were in the form of screening activities by conducting an echocardiography examination on randomly selected junior and senior high school children. This activity was carried out as a form of good future cooperation between FK Unud and Yale University
