The visit of the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency Team to the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University in the context of socialization and cooperation related to the supervision of nuclear energy

On August 25, 2022, the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University received a visit from the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency, located in Courtroom II, 3rd floor of the Dean Building, Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University. The visit was held with the aim of conducting socialization on nuclear energy and discussing the cooperation between the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency and academics which later is expected to support activities at the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency and at the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University. During the visit, material was presented on the implementation of licensing for nuclear installations, the definition of nuclear power, and the use and supervision of nuclear energy. As Director of Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency's Installation Licensing and Materials, Mr. Budi Rohman explained that nuclear power is energy in any form released in the process of nuclear transformation, including energy from ionizing radiation sources. "The use of nuclear energy must have benefits that outweigh the risks." He added about the use of nuclear energy.

 

 

According to article 14 of Law no. 10 of 1997, supervision of the use of nuclear energy is carried out by a supervisory body guided by the 3S principle (SAFETY, SECURITY, SAFEGUARD) which aims to ensure the safety and health of workers and the community as well as the protection of the environment. During the visit, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, ST, Ph.D. also expressed his opinion, "There were several points that were conveyed, which were related to the description of students interning at the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency, the work system, and also he also shared the profiles of lecturers and their fields of expertise to support the work of the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency if needed."

 

 

“It is necessary to attend a training center that will direct students' interest in which direction. The activities carried out by the intern are previews in the field of licensing and completeness of documents.” The Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency said in response to a statement from the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University. It is hoped that through this visit the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University and the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency can cooperate with each other in terms of research, internships, and scientific development to support the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and achieve the vision and mission of the Faculty of Engineering, University.
