Iman Handiman Receives the 62nd Doctoral Degree from the Faculty of Engineering

The Engineering Science Doctoral Study Program (PSDIT) carried out its 62nd doctoral promotion on Tuesday 2 January 2024 at the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University Jl. P.B Sudirman Denpasar. Promovendus Ir. Iman Handiman, MT with a dissertation entitled Approximate Coefficient of Horizontal Soil Pressure Due to Moving Loads received a very satisfactory title.




Dr. Ir. Iman Handiman, MT, explained that additional horizontal or lateral pressure due to dynamic traffic loads must be determined. To obtain the correct structure according to design, it is necessary to calculate the soil lateral pressure accurately. Electronic devices designed as sensory instruments are used to collect data during lateral pressure testing. This research found that the shape or pattern of the ground lateral pressure distribution curve when a vehicle passes over the ground surface usually takes the form of two peaks of unequal size. The first peak is relatively smaller than the second peak, which is relatively consistent with the Boussinesq approach.
