New Specialist Education Participants for Odd Semester 2023/2024 Participate in Emergency Clinical Skills Training
All 149 new students of the FK UNUD Medical Specialist Education Program for Odd Semester 2023/2024 Academic Year as many as 149 people took part in the Emergency Clinical Skills training organized by the Professional Education Executor Coordination Unit (KP3) FK UNUD. The activity was carried out for 3 days from the 21st, 22nd and 24th of August 2023 at the Sudewa Djelantik Room and Skills Lab, CVU Building FK UNUD.
On the first day of August 21 2023, the activity began with a preliminary evaluation (pre-test) to find out the initial understanding of new students regarding the concepts and skills of emergency clinics and continued with the provision of material by the facilitating lecturer. Materials delivered by lecture and discussion methods include; Airway Management and Ventilation Support by dr. I Wayan Aryabiantara, Sp.An, KIC .; Respiration & Hemodynamic Monitoring by Prof. Dr. dr. Tjok Gde Agung Senapathi, Sp.An, KAR; Management of Hypovolemic Shock by Dr.dr. I Made Gede Widnyana, Sp.An, MKes, KAR; Septic Shock by Dr.dr. I. Gusti Ngurah Mahaalit Aribawa Sp.An, KAR, FIP; Emergency Vascular Access by Dr. Dr. IGAG Utara Hartawan SpAn MARS SH; Management of Anaphylactic Shock and Steven Johnson Syndrome dr. Nyoman Suryawati, M.Kes, Sp.KK. and dr. Ketut Suardamana, Sp.PD, KAI; Management of Cardiogenic Shock / Cardiac Arrest Life Threating By dr. Hendy Wirawan, M.Biomed, Sp.JP and the topic of Awareness Decline and Determination of Brain Death by Dr. dr. Kumara Tini, Sp.S, FINS.
Furthermore, on the second day several material topics were delivered, including; Emergencies in Metabolic/Endocrine Disorders (Diabetes Mellitus) by Dr. dr. I Made Pande Dwipayana, Sp. PD-KEMD, FINASIM; Emergencies in Children's Diseases by dr. Ida Bagus Suparyatha.Sp.A(K); Emergency in Geriatric Cases by Dr. dr. I Gusti Putu Suka Aryana, Sp. PD-Kger, FINASIM; Acute Kidney Injury by Dr.dr. Yenny Kandarini, SpPD-KGH; Emergency in Malignant Cases and Final Procedures by dr. I Gede Budhi Setiawan, Sp.B(K)Onk; Transfusion of Blood and Components in Patients with Acute and Chronic Bleeding by Dr. dr. Ni Kadek Mulyantari, SpPK(K); The Role of Endoscopy in Patients with Acute Gastrointestinal Bleeding by Dr. dr. Ketut Mariadi, SpPD-KGEH, FINASIM; Pain Management (Pain) by Dr. dr. Eka Widyadharma, M.Sc, Sp.N (K) and the topic of Transportation and Evacuation in Mass Disasters and Optimization or Stabilization of Preoperative Patients by dr. I Komang Weka, Sp.B. Among the delivery of the material, ice breaking activities were carried out to provide opportunities for relaxation and display the creativity of students.
On the third day, August 24 2023, clinical skills practice was carried out in the Cakra Vidya Usada (CVU) skill lab building. Participants are divided into 6 groups and each group will pass 6 action stations. Each station is guided by a tutor and several facilitators (chief resident) and uses appropriate props to discuss and practice emergency skills. These skills include: Airway Management skills guided by dr. I Wayan Aryabiantara, Sp.An, KIC. and Dr. dr. Kumara Tini, Sp.S, FINS.; Support Ventilation Management and O2 Therapy skills guided by Dr. dr. I Dewa Ayu Mas Shintya Dewi, Sp.An. and Dr. dr. I Gusti Putu Suka Aryana, Sp.PD, Kger, FINASIM .; Cardiovascular Diagnostic skill guided by dr. Hendy Wirawan, M.Biomed., SpJP and Prof. Dr. dr. Tjok Gde Agung Senapathi, Sp.An,KAR.; Cardio Pulmocerebral Resuscitation skill by Dr.dr. Dyah Kanya Wati Sp.A(K) and Dr. dr. ribs. Gede Utara Hartawan, Sp.An, MARS; Vascular Access skill guided by dr. Putu Andrika, Sp.PD-KIC. and dr. IGAB Krisna Wibawa, Sp.B(K),V; as well as Stabilization and Evacuation skills by dr. I Ketut Wiargitha, Sp.B(K) Trauma. All participants had the opportunity to practice all of these skills and actively discuss matters that were not clear.
At the end of the training, a summative evaluation was carried out in the form of a post test and a qualitative evaluation of the implementation of the training. From the results of the post test, it can be concluded that there is an increase in mastery of the material and emergency skills seen from the increase in the average post test score and the range of values. The average pre-test score was 63.5 to 89.5 during the post-test and the range of values during the pre-test increased from 31-85 to 69-98. From the results of the process evaluation, most participants (> 77%) were very satisfied and benefited from this training whose skills can later be used while studying PPDS at FK UNUD. Evaluation of the organizers found that the majority of participants (> 67%) participants were very satisfied with the facilitation and facilities provided by the committee. Students also provide suggestions for things that need to be improved such as longer practice time and more beads.
