HISTORY
The issuance of the Decree of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Department of National Education Number: 163/DIKTI/Kep/2007 dated 29 November 2007 concerning the Arrangement and Codification of Study Programs at the Higher Education Level required that the Faculty of Agriculture of Udayana University did restructuring to its departments/study programs. It also included restructuring the curriculum, organization and facilities/infrastructure including laboratories. Through such restructuring processes, the Faculty of Agriculture of Udayana University incorporated all the existing departments and study programs.
The Department/Study Program of Agroecotechnology is resulted from the integration among the Agronomy Study Program, the Soil Study Program, the Plant Pest and Disease Study Program, and the Landscape Architecture Study Program pursuant to the Decree of the Directorate General of Higher Education Number: 2447/D/T/2009 dated 30 December 2009 concerning the integration of the study programs in the field of agriculture which came into force starting from 1 January 2008. Furthermore, the aforesaid decree was amended by the Decree of the Directorate General of Higher Education Number: 692/D/T/2010 dated 24 June 2010 concerning the amendment to the changes/integration of study programs in the field of agriculture. Later, it was followed by the issuance of the Decree of the Directorate General of Higher Education Number: 1293/D/T/2010 dated 22 September 2010 concerning the amendment to the changes/integration of study programs in the field of agriculture. The Agroecotechnology Study Program began recruiting new students in the academic year of 2008/2009.
The Accreditation Assessment for the Agroecotechnology Study Program was conducted from March to May 2012 by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (hereinafter referred to as BAN-PT) whose preparations had been done since 2011. The result suggested that the Agroecotechnology Study Program collected a score by 364 and was accredited “A” (the Decree of BAN-PT Number: 017/BAN- PT/Ak-XV/S1/VI/2012 dated 29 June 2012). This certificate issued by BAN-PT was valid for another five years, i.e. from 29 June 2012 until 29 June 2017.
The Senate Meeting of the Faculty of Agriculture of Udayana University on 6 September 2010 ratified the proposal to establish fields of interest for the Agroecotechnology Department/Study Program and the Agribusiness Department/Study Program. Furthermore, the Decree of the Rector Number: 76/UN.14/PR/2011 dated 9 March 2011 approved the establishment of seven new fields of interest in the Faculty of Agriculture of Udayana University. The names of those fields of interest were given based on the history before the restructuring, the potential and the development direction of the Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University, as well as the need of the stakeholders in the world of work. These fields of interest are intended to facilitate the students’ final assignment, i.e. their thesis. The maximum credits for courses the students must take if they join a particular field of interest are + 15% of the total credits of the undergraduate program (S1). These courses will begin to be offered as students have been in the sixth semester.
The fields of interest offered by the Agroecotechnology Department/ Study Program are:
a. Field of Interest in Agronomy and Horticulture
b. Field of Interest in Soil and Environmental Science
c. Field of Interest in Plant Protection
d. Field of Interest in Landscape Architecture
e. Field of Interest in Agricultural Biotechnology

To make the Agroecotechnology Study Program a superior, independent and cultured center for sustainable agricultural science and technology development.
The Missions of the Agroecotechnology Study Program
- To generate superior, independent, and cultured graduates in the fields of Agroecotechnology based on the local wisdom.
- To encourage modern and sustainable research in science and technology in Agroecotechnology based on the local knowledge.
- To encourage and conduct community service in accordance with the development of science and technology.
- To build partnership on an ongoing basis with government agencies, research institutions, businesses, and the global community.
- To improve the quality of human resources, facilities and infrastructure, and management effectiveness of the Agroecotechnology Study Program.
The Objectives of the Agroecotechnology Study Program
- To generate graduates with the competency to serve as actors in the field of agriculture, managers, entrepreneurs, researchers, and educators that are knowledgeable and skilled as well as have a character and high integrity that are based on science and faith and uphold the culture of Indonesia.
- To conduct research to improve agricultural production on an ongoing basis by applying the modern science and technology in Agroecotechnology in a sustainable manner based on the local wisdom.
- To conduct community service in accordance with the development of science and technology
- To contribute to agricultural development by building partnership at the local, national, and global level.
- To build reliable and competent human resources, adequate facilities and infrastructure as well as effective and efficient management.
