FK Unud Student Creativity Program for Exact Research (PKM-RE) Team Tests the Effectiveness of Seagrass Seed Extract for Cholesterol Reduction & nbsp;

The Faculty of Medicine's Student Creativity Program for Exact Research (PKM-RE) team from July to October 2023, supervised by Dr. dr. I gusti Ayu Artini, M.Sc., conducted a research on ''Effectiveness of Encapsulation of molecular Complex with β-Cyclodextrin (β-Cd) Seagrass Seed Extract (Enhalus acoroides) on Cholesterol Level Reduction in Coronary Heart Disease''.

In this modern era, coronary heart disease has become one of the significant global health problems. According to data from the 2018 Basic Health Research (Riskesdas), coronary heart disease is the number one cause of death in Indonesia. 

It is estimated that approximately 6.8% of the Indonesian population suffers from coronary heart disease. The prevalence of this disease is also found to be higher in the older population. With the aim to address this issue, our team has adopted an innovative approach and utilized molecular complex encapsulation with β-Cyclodextrin (β-CD) and seagrass seed extract (Enhalus acoroides) as the main ingredients.
