Denpasar, FLUNUD.ac.id - Starting from the preparation of a thesis, Ida Bagus Putra Swabawa Bukian, a student of FH UNUD succeeded in fighting for the recording of Traditional Cultural Expressions (EBT) Pendet Memendak Dance to the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kanwil Kemenkumham) Bali because Pendet Memendak Dance has not received legal protection.
This recording struggle is a follow-up and a real step of the final project / thesis entitled "Application of Legal Protection Against Pendet Memendak Dance as a Traditional Cultural Expression at Saren Gong Temple, Kerambitan Village, Tabanan Regency." The preparation of this thesis was guided by Supervisor 1 (Prof. Dr. N.K. Supasti Dharmawan, S.H., M.Hum., LLM) and Supervisor 2 (Dr. A.A. Istri Ari Atu Dewi, S.H., M.H.).
Ida Bagus Putra Swabawa Bukian explained that, "Pendet Memendak Dance is a sacred dance that is held firmly across generations in Tabanan Regency. According to him, the legal protection of Pendet Memendak Dance is very important to avoid imitation or plagiarism of copyrighted works. When there is an act of imitation, the custodian will be easier to prove and file a claim because it already has evidence in the form of a Communal Intellectual Property (KIK) certificate with the recording number EBT51202300111." In addition, the reason he registered EBT was because of his concern for Balinese culture and traditions and was inspired by the service activities of the Student Executive Board (BEM) FH UNUD to indigenous peoples.
